Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Travis Air Force Base is home to the 916th Air Refueling Squadron, the 60th Military Airlift Wing and the 60th Air Mobility Wing. The latter is the largest wing in the Air Force’s Air Mobility Command. Aircraft included in the wing’s missions include the KC-10 Extenders, the C-17 Globemaster III and the C-5 Galaxies aircraft. Travis Air Force Base is located in the San Francisco Bay area and is known as the “Gateway to the Pacific”. Travis is known for its support of humanitarian airlift operations worldwide. Housing at Travis Air Force Base includes over 1,800 units, and those seeking on-post housing should contact the housing office and complete a DDForm 1746 to get a place on any applicable waiting list. Homes for sale or rent are also available off-post, and an individual’s BAH rate will determine how much rent would be covered. Advance applications can be submitted by families with children. Temporary lodging is provided by the Westwind Inn. The lodging office can be contacted for reservations by calling 707-424-8000. Space is limited, so calling in advance is advised.
Travis has three child development centers that can accommodate more than 250 children from age 6 weeks to 5 years. There are more than 25 Family child care homes on Travis that will provide child care in the evenings, before and after school, and on the weekends. For more information, call 707-424-0341. Travis Air Force Base has a teen center that is located in Building 650 and offers recreational programs for teens. The Travis Air Force Base School Liaison Officer can help identify which public schools serve which districts. Public schools are free to children who live in the district. Several private schools are also available and tuition assistance may be necessary for private high schools as well as children of active military attending community college or university.
